Nexus Insurance Brokers, one of the largest broker firms in the Gulf region, has restructured its management team after making three hires from the UK.

Gary Lunn, who joins Nexus from SIP Nordic UK, has replaced Sharon Gardner as the general manager of Nexus in Qatar. Gardner, who is a director of the company, has moved to the firm’s headquarters in Dubai, where she has taken on the role of group human resources director.

Meanwhile, Nexus has appointed Peter Ellen as operations director, taking charge of sales, customer services, agency services, IT, and training and development. Ellen joins from Allied Dunbar in the UK, where he held several senior roles, including director of sales management development and board director responsible for sales strategy.

Nexus has also appointed Nick Henderson as training and development director. He joins from a training consultancy he founded in 2000.

In addition to the new hires, Nexus founder and chief executive Mahmoud Nodjoumi said the company plans to “expand its geographical footprint” beyond its existing offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Bahrain and Lebanon, to include Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, Nodjoumi said the company intends to implement a “host of new and valuable client propositions, including further development in employee benefits and health insurance”.
