PEOPLE MOVES: FCA, Deutsche Bank WM, Quilter

Chair of the UK financial watchdog to step down in 2022, as wealth manager hires managing director in Asia

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)

Charles Randell to step down as chair of both the FCA and Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) in Spring 2022.

Randell has asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to commence the process to appoint his successor as chair of the FCA and PSR.

He was appointed chair of both bodies in April 2018.

Deutsche Bank Wealth Management

The banking group has hired Faye Lee as managing director in its south-east Asia team led by Shang-Wei Chow.

Lee joins from Bank of Singapore, where she was managing director.

Quilter

The UK financial services giant has announced that Glyn Jones will retire from his role as chair and and director of Quilter in 2022, once a successor is in place.

The firm is currently recruiting for his successor.

Jupiter

The fund manager has confirmed that chief investment officer Stephen Pearson is leaving the business after more than two decades with the firm.

Pearson is retiring after a career spanning more than 35 years in fund management. Jupiter said in a statement he will remain with the company until “well into 2022” and it is in the advanced stages of hiring his successor.

AllianceBernstein

Honor Solomon will join the firm as head of retail EMEA, while Mike Thompson will lead AB’s global fixed income business development strategy.

Solomon joins from Legal & General Investment Management, where she spent seven years as head of retail distribution.

Thompson joins from UK-based alternative asset manager ICG, where he was global head of the financial institutions group and European head of marketing and client relations.

Oakbridge Wealth

The Jersey-based investment management business has hired Jeff Brummette as chief investment strategist.

Most recently, Brummette was a founding partner at Rubicon Fund Management, and OneWall Advisors.

Close Brothers Asset Management (CBAM)

The wealth firm has appointed Giles Parkinson as global funds managing director.

He joins from Aviva Investors, where he has spent the past six years and launched the Aviva Investors Global Equity Endurance fund.

Money Alive

Michael Wall has joined the regtech firm as chief commercial officer.

He was previously business development director at 1825, the financial planning arm of Aberdeen Standard Life.

Janus Henderson Investors

The asset manager has named Dan Howe as deputy head of investment trusts and Oliver Packard as head of investment trust sales.

Howe joins Janus Henderson from JP Morgan Asset Management, while Packard joins Janus Henderson from Panmure Gordon.

Amundi

The global asset manager has appointed Eric Bramoullé as head of marketing and products.

He also becomes a member of the executive committee.

Albert Tse succeeds Bramoullé as chief executive of Amundi south Asia. Tse was head of distribution sales and marketing for Amundi in south Asia.

Gilles Cutaya has been appointed deputy head of Amundi marketing and products. Cutaya was head of marketing and communication since 2015.

Aegon Asset Management

The firm has strengthened its responsible investment team with three appointments, bringing the team to 17 specialists.

Based in the UK, Andy Woods joins Aegon AM as a responsible investment manager. Previously, he headed up the institutional voting information service of the Association of British Insurers.

Also joining the company as a responsible investment associate is Curtis Zappala, who will be based in the US. Prior to joining Aegon AM, Zappala was a member of the sustainability team at United Parcel Service.

Finally, Jamie McAloon joins Aegon AM as a responsible investment associate. He joins the business from Abrdn, where he was a private equity finance analyst.
