PEOPLE MOVES: HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered

Bank names CEO of global private banking, while German giant bolsters UK operation

HSBC

The banking giant has appointed Annabel Spring as chief executive of global private banking and Taylan Turan as group head of customers, products and strategy for wealth and personal banking.

Spring was most recently group head of customers and products for wealth and personal banking.

Turan is currently group head of strategy and chief of staff for wealth and personal banking.

Deutsche Bank

The German firm has bolstered its international private bank with the appointment of James Whittaker to head UK coverage.

Whittaker will join the bank in early October and will be a member of UK international private bank’s executive committee.

He joins from UBS, where he spent 14 years as a private banker and leader, most recently as head of the firm’s UK ultra-high net worth team in London and a member of the UBS UK management committee.

Standard Chartered

The bank has named Judy Hsu as the head of consumer, private and business banking, a newly created division.

Hsu is currently regional chief executive of Asean and south Asia.

She is responsible for growing the affluent client base and will continue to be based in Singapore.

The greater China and north Asia and Asean and south Asia regions will be combined into a Asia region led by BenHung, currently regional chief executive of greater China and north Asia, and chief executive of retail banking and wealth management.

Tracy Clarke, regional chief executive of Europe and Americas and chief executive of private banking, will retire at the end of 2020 to focus on her external board roles.

Torry Berntsen who is currently chief executive of Americas, will assume Europe and Americas leadership.

Zedra

The financial services provider names Sally Orton to the role of group chief financial officer.

Alongside her group financial brief, she will head the operational side of the group, including HR and operations.

Nedbank Private Wealth

The international wealth manager has appointed Chris Kirk as chief risk officer.

The move forms part of a planned restructure of the risk and compliance teams and Kirk is based in the company’s Isle of Man office.

Prior to joining Nedbank Private Wealth, Kirk spent 30 years with HSBC Group.

Nomura

The Asian firm has hired Ravi Raju as head of international wealth management, based in Singapore.

Raju will be responsible for expanding Nomura’s Wealth Management business in Asia ex-Japan.

He was head of ultra-high net worth and global family office of Asia Pacific at UBS.

First State Investments

The global asset manager has named Gary Cotton as managing director of UK.

Cotton joins from M&G Investments where he spent 23 years, most recently as chief operating officer of M&G.

He assumes this role from Chris Turpin, who was appointed global director of corporate development in May 2020 and continues in his current role as regional managing director of Emea.

Mirabaud Asset Management

The investment arm of the Mirabaud Group has strengthened its global emerging markets equity team with the addition of Bryony Deuchars.

Deuchars joins from Aviva Investors as deputy portfolio manager of global emerging markets.

PGIM Fixed Income

The global asset manager has hired Eugenia Unanyants-Jackson into the newly created role of head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research.

Unanyants-Jackson joins from Allianz Global Investors, where she was the global head of ESG research since 2016.
