PEOPLE MOVES: Zurich, HSBC, Generali

Insurer hires CEO of its Malaysia operation, as bank names Asia Pacific head of wealth

Zurich Malaysia

The insurer has named Nazrul Hisham Abdul Hamid as chief executive.

He will report to country head Stephen Clark.

Prior to joining Zurich Malaysia, Hamid spent five years at Takaful Ikhlas, initially as chief business operations officer and later as chief operating officer.

HSBC

The banking giant has appointed Greg Hingston as regional head of wealth and personal banking, Asia Pacific, effective from 1 April 2020.

Hingston has been with the group for nearly 14 years and is currently head of wealth and personal banking in Hong Kong.

This comes after HSBC restructured its global wealth and personal banking unit.

Generali Luxembourg

Nicola Alvaro has joined the Italian-headquartered insurer as chief legal and wealth structuring officer in Luxembourg.

He joins from Lombard International Assurance, where he was a senior wealth planner.

Finsbury Associates

Darren Hooker has been named as senior associate at the UAE-based advice firm.

He was previously vice president and relationship director at Barclays Wealth Management in Dubai.

Sanlam UK

The firm has hired Stephen Wood as a wealth manager and promoted Eleanor Ingilby to head of its Harrogate office.

Ingilby was previously a discretionary portfolio manager.

Based in Sanlam’s Harrogate office, Wood has over 16 years of experience to the role.

He has managed portfolios for high net worth individuals, families and trusts at HSBC Private Bank and Brown Shipley across the Yorkshire region.

Raymond James

Greg Mahon will be joining the wealth firm as a branch principal based in Chichester.

He will be managing private clients, their family trusts and pensions, as well as charities.

Mahon was former regional head for Rathbones’ Chichester branch.

Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors (JMFA)

The Maltese advice firm has named Matthew Magro as an investment adviser at its Birkirkara branch.

Magro was previously a branch manager at Mediterranean Bank.
