pinebridge investments appoints tang taiwan cio

8 Nov 13

PineBridge Investments has named Joseph Tang senior vice president and chief investment officer of its Taiwan operation, succeeding Richard Kao.

PineBridge Investments has named Joseph Tang senior vice president and chief investment officer of its Taiwan operation, succeeding Richard Kao.

Tang will oversee the management of local and overseas equities and fixed income, as well as fund of funds, PineBridge said in a statement. He is based in PineBridge’s offices in Taipei, and reports to PineBridge Taiwan chief executive Ann Yang.

The company did not say where Kao has gone.

Tang has spent more than 20 years in the equity investment industry. His most recent role was as chief investment officer of Value Partners Concord Asset Management. Prior roles included stints at JTM Capital Partners and JP Morgan Asset Management.

Headquartered in New York, PineBridge is a global asset manager, majority-owned by a subsidiary of Pacific Century Group, an Asia-based private investment group controlled by Richard Li, the son of Asian tycoon Li Ka-shing. At the end of September its assets under management totalled approximately $69.1bn.

PineBridge’s roots as an asset manager date back more than 60 years. Li acquired PineBridge Investments in 2010 from its then-owner, US-based insurance giant AIG, which collapsed as a result of the global financial crisis.

In September, PineBridge announced a new managing director and head of business development for the Asian region, Yoohee Won. Based in Hong Kong, Won was appointed to developing the firm’s relationships with institutional clients across the region.
