UK interest in equities is high but so are barriers to entry

There is a healthy appetite in the UK to invest in equities but a lack of knowledge and understanding is preventing Britons from taking advantage of investment opportunities, according to survey of more than 3,000 people from equity crowdfunding platform SyndicateRoom.
Britain is a nation of savers and investors, with over half of respondents saying that if they were given £10,000 ($14,423, €12,644), they would either save it or invest it.
Just over a fifth (22%) of respondents say they would spend the money and 17% would use the money to pay off debt.
While the average UK adult now has around £173,000 in personal assets, the majority of those who could be motivated to invest in equities have been put off because they cannot find a simple and easy way to do so.
