Chan, whose appointment is effective February 17, will focus on managing the strategic development and performance of the medical business in Hong Kong, the company said.
She reports to Eric Hui, chief executive of Zurich’s general insurance business in Hong Kong. Prior to this, she was with AXA as chief health distribution officer.
“The new division will support Zurich’s accident and health strategic growth plan to build and grow a sustainable medical portfolio. Through this division, we will also focus more on customer demand to expand all-round service across consumer, commercial and corporate segments to provide better and superior customer services,” Hui said.
“With Elaine’s (Chan) extensive experience in building distribution channels, partnership alliances, product development, as well as best practices in healthcare and medical insurance business for over 25 years, I am sure she will help further expand our medical business in Hong Kong,” he added.
