royal skandias denton departs

30 Oct 12

David Denton, who has been head of European sales at Royal Skandia for more than 13 years, has left the company, as part of the recently-announced consolidation of the Skandia businesses into Old Mutual Wealth by Skandia parent Old Mutual Group.

David Denton, who has been head of European sales at Royal Skandia for more than 13 years, has left the company, as part of the recently-announced consolidation of the Skandia businesses into Old Mutual Wealth by Skandia parent Old Mutual Group.

Denton’s plans are not known, and he declined to comment.

Denton’s duties will now be handled by Victor France, Old Mutual Wealth sales director (international), an Old Mutual spokesman said.

As reported, Skandia said in September it would consolidate the Skandia International, Royal Skandia and Skandia Life Ireland operations into a single wealth management business called Old Mutual Wealth. Later it revealed that the consolidation would result in the loss of some 200 jobs across the various brands.

Among the Skandia executives whose departures have already been announced include Skandia UK marketing director Nick Dixon and UK director of adviser sales Andy Davies.

The Old Mutual consolidation and resultant job cuts mirror those of other global financial services companies that are responding to the currently challenging conditions and decreased appetite for investment products in many markets.

In a statement, France  thanked Denton for his contributions "over many years" to Royal Skandia, and said the company wished him "all the best for the future".
