acuity discontinues ailo market monitor to focus on consultancy

3 Oct 11

Acuity Consultants Ltd, an Isle of Man cross-border consultancy, said it has stopped publishing an online news and analysis service it has produced for the Association of International Life Offices for the past six years, to concentrate on its corporate client work.

Acuity Consultants Ltd, an Isle of Man cross-border consultancy, said it has stopped publishing an online news and analysis service it has produced for the Association of International Life Offices for the past six years, to concentrate on its corporate client work.

The edition of the AILO Market Monitor  that went live on the Market Monitor website in early July was the company’s last.

The company’s directors, Edinburgh-based Bryan Low and Isle of Man-based Simon Willoughby, said the Market Monitor service had always required a commitment of time and resource beyond what it was feasible to charge AILO for, and had been more of a labour of love than a profit-making enterprise for them.

“We have worked extensively with AILO to raise the level of marketing professionalism in the cross-border life market, and Market Monitor has made a strong contribution to this, providing monthly analysis of global issues affecting AILO members’ businesses,” said Low.

“Six years on, other outlets for the kinds of news the AILO Market Monitor provided have mushroomed, and from Acuity’s perspective it is time for us to focus our experience and insight on our consultancy assignments.”

Low said the Market Monitor website will remain live for several months, so that AILO members may have time to access any of the back articles they were particularly interested in.

AILO members now receive bulletins from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, according to AILO chief executive Alan Morgan-Moodie, who added that there were no plans at present to find a replacement for the Market Monitor.

Like Low, Morgan-Moodie said AILO members now have “many more sources of information” than they did six years ago when the Market Monitor was launched.
