Three financial adviser initiatives: Holborn Assets

Keren Bobker has been an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) for over 25 years and for the past ten has been living and working in Dubai. She is now a Senior Partner of Holborn Assets LLC which has their headquarters in Dubai, with offices in the UK, South Africa and Spain and back end operations in Sri Lanka and the Philippines. She was first authorised under the Financial Intermediaries, Managers and Brokers Regulatory Association (FIMBRA) and worked for a number of known companies in the UK, including running the financial services division for a firm of Central London accountants and latterly at Lucas Fettes & Partners.

A Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualified adviser, Keren progressed to Advanced status back in the late 90s and has never stopped studying and reading since to ensure her technical knowledge is up to date.

Working in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is very different to being in a fully regulated market, but Keren believes that is no excuse to give advice that is of a lesser standard than would be provided to a client in the UK.

Indeed with all the differences in circumstances, change in legalities and tax issues, Keren deems advisers in the UAE have an even greater duty of care and responsibility towards their clients if they want to do their job well.

As a company Holborn offers a wide range of services and Keren herself gives holistic advice, mainly to families and British expats, though she counts clients of many nationalities.  As one of the longest serving advisers at Holborn Assets, she modestly claims she is known as a “safe and competent pair of hands”, and is passionate about what she does. But whilst she takes her work seriously she is not, in her own words, a standard “corporate suit”.
