“After years of regulatory change and a late-pandemic flurry of corporate activity, most platforms will be looking forward to getting back to the day job and doing the basics well – something that planners have clamoured for.

“Mixed in there, though, is a challenge for those platforms who’ve experienced ownership changes to get their transitions right, learning from the scars of those who have gone before. Mixed in there is the existential question of who platforms benefit.

“The Consumer Duty regulation – while still at consultation stage – is a fundamental and necessary challenge for a sector which sees itself as business-to-business but which has a massive impact on consumer outcomes.”
