Nigel Green hires ex-FPI manager to run deVere Acuma in UAE

By Mark Battersby, 22 Jan 20

The CEO and founder of deVere Group says the move will allow him to focus on ‘other areas’

DeVere chief: ‘STM was the best of a bad bunch’

John McKellar has joined deVere’s Middle East financial advisory business as general manager.

He was previously at Friends Provident International where he spent over 11 years and was most recently a regional sales manager.

He will be based in deVere Acuma’s Dubai office and oversee the regulatory changes in the region, namely BOD49, as well as the roll out of digital solutions in 2020.

Starting his new role with immediate effect, McKellar will report directly to Nigel Green, who has been heading up the operations since November 2017 spending around 40% of his time in the region.

Digital solutions

McKellar said there are plans for innovative changes within the business such as the launch of “dynamic, market-leading digital solutions and the ability to provide our clients access to a wider range of products and services”, as well as “the integration of the eagerly anticipated changes in UAE regulations”.

Green said: “John is a client-focused, forward-thinking and adaptable manager with a proven record of leadership and building relationships.”

He added that the UAE is “consistently one of our best-performing regions. I look forward to working closely with him. His appointment will also allow me to further focus on developing other areas of the organisation.”
