PEOPLE MOVES: Fidelity Intl, StanChart, US SEC

Fidelity International has named a country head of China, while Standard Chartered in Hong Kong has made a raft of senior appointments following the resignation announcement of the bank’s chief executive. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has confirmed more departures ahead of the presidential inauguration.

Zedra

Zedra is continuing to strengthen its industry presence with the appointment of two business heads. Based in Singapore, Yuan Yuan Woo, executive director, and Nithya Camoens, director, will drive new business, foster relationship building and support the underlying efforts of the company to expand and grow in Asia.

Woo will head new business for trust services and focus on key client relationship management. She began her career in tax services for PwC, before moving to a number of private banks, including Citibank, DBS and UBS, where she advised private clients on succession and estate planning.

Camoens will be responsible for developing corporate solutions to complement the firm’s Singapore’s private client offering. She joins from PwC Singapore.

Rowan Dartington

Rowan Dartington has appointed Marcus Adams as its chief risk officer and board member based in Bristol. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Adams joins Rowan Dartington from Friends Provident International where he was international risk director.

Prior to this, he was head of group internal audit for four years and set up the group risk function at Prudential. In a career spanning more than 30 years, Adams has worked for a number of blue chip organisations; including Price Waterhouse, Guardian Royal Exchange and BT.

Carmignac

David Older has been promoted to head of equities at Carmignac, with all of the equity fund managers and equity analysts reporting to him. After having joined Carmignac as a senior fund manager in 2015, Older is now in charge of evaluating and optimising portfolio performance from the point of view of Alpha generation and extends his fund management to the entire US stock sector, commodities excluded.

Christophe Peronin, who joined Carmignac in 2010, has been promoted to deputy general manager, working alongside Eric Helderlé, general manager. He remains in charge of the Operations Department and continues to supervise the Risk Control. In his new role, he will assist Helderlé in leading the Strategic Development Committee and implementing its initiatives.

Ogier

Ogier has strengthened its Luxembourg investment fund team with the appointment of Anne-Gaëlle Delabye as a managing associate. Her focus is on investment funds and regulatory work, with a particular specialism in the regulated investment funds sector.

Delabye previously worked as head of regulatory and investment management at the Luxembourg office of a French firm.

Polar Capital

Gavin Rochussen is to succeed Tim Woolley as chief executive of Polar Capital. Rochussen announced his departure from J O Hambro Capital Management on Tuesday, and will assume his new role in July 2017 after his ‘gardening leave’ ends.

Woolley will move to a non-executive position once Rochussen officially joins the firm.

BlueBay Asset Management

Global fixed income manager BlueBay AM has appointed Timothy Ash to the newly created role of emerging markets senior sovereign strategist in the Emerging Market Debt team. He joins BlueBay from Nomura.

Based in London and reporting to David Dowsett, partner and co-head of Emerging Markets, Ash will work closely with the team to shape investment views, as well as identifying risks and opportunities at a sovereign macro level across BlueBay’s emerging market strategies.

Winterflood Business Services (WBS)

WBS, which offers bespoke and flexible dealing, custody, and settlement services, has appointed Edward Dickson as its new head of dealing. He joins WBS from investment manager Charles Stanley, where he was deputy head of dealing.

Dickson will be responsible for the management of the WBS dealing department, ensuring all trades are executed in line with FCA best execution guidelines. He will also be integral in navigating WBS clients on MiFID II best execution implementation.

Alex Picot Trust

Independent Jersey trust company Alex Picot Trust has hired tax consultant Hannah Roynon-Jones and marketing manager Pauline Ramskill.

Roynon-Jones, who joins from the tax department of a Big Four firm, will provide Jersey and UK tax compliance, and oversee the exchange of information reporting including Fatca and CRS (Common Reporting Standard).

Ramskill will assume responsibility for developing and delivering its marketing plans, while supporting the directors in their business development activities.

BH Global

London-listed closed-ended investment company, BH Global, has appointed Julia Chapman to join the company’s board. A solicitor qualified in England & Wales and in Jersey, Chapman has over 25 years’ experience in the investment fund and capital markets sector.

After working at Simmons & Simmons in London, she moved to Jersey and became a partner of Mourant du Feu & Jeune (now Mourant Ozannes) in 1999.  She was then appointed general counsel to Mourant International Finance Administration.

Following its acquisition by State Street in April 2010, Chapman was appointed european senior counsel for State Street’s alternative investment business.  In July 2012, she left to focus on the independent provision of directorship and governance services to a small number of investment fund vehicles.
