PEOPLE MOVES: Friends Provident Int’l, Zurich, Axa…

By Kirsten Hastings, 19 May 16

FPI has confirmed the departure of Singapore managing director Chris Gill and named his replacement. Zurich has made several senior changes of late, including handing the reins of its MEA Global Life business to Walter Jopp. Axa France’s chief executive and chairman is to depart, while Deutsche Bank’s co-chairman of the management board is to step down but will continue to support the bank in a different role.

T. Rowe Price

The global asset manager has strengthened its UK intermediary arm with the appointment of Simon King to lead its client relationship management team, which provides services to fund selectors and global financial intermediaries.

In the newly created role, King’s primary responsibility will be to broaden the company’s engagement in the UK intermediary market. He will join T. Rowe Price from Woodford Investment Management later this summer.

Miton Group

Andrew Jackson has been hired to manage the CF Miton UK Value Opportunities Fund, replacing George Godber and Georgina Hamilton, who, in a surprise move in April, announced that they were both departing for Polar Capital.

Jackson joins the firm on 27 June, with his last fund management role at Ecclesiastical Investment Management, now EdenTree. He spent over 11 years there before leaving in July 2015.

Earlier in his career Jackson was responsible for UK and Irish equity investments at Canada Life, he managed the specialist UK small cap funds for Lloyds Investment Managers and helped to set up the smaller companies desk at SG Asset Management.

Columbia Threadneedle

Kath Cates has been appointed to the board of Threadneedle Asset Management and Threadneedle Investment Services as a non-executive director.

Her most recent executive role was global chief operating officer for Standard Chartered Bank, a position based in Singapore which she held until 2013. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, Cates spent over 20 years at UBS, most recently in the Zurich-based role of global head of compliance.

Skagen

Alexandra Morris has been hired as investment director of Skagen with effect from 1 September 2016, taking over from chief executive Leif Ola Rød who assumed the role on an interim basis in April.

Morris joins Skagen from DNB Asset Management where she has been chief investment officer since August 2015. From 2004 to 2015 she was senior portfolio manager of two of Odin’s European mutual funds.

Platform One

The wrap platform has promoted Rita Solanski to head of international business development where she will be responsible for Platform One’s relationships with international advisers in all jurisdictions, except the UK and Ireland.

Additionally, Jeremy Sims has been appointed operations manager, replacing Chris Forero-Slee who left to join Novia Global. Sims was previously operations manager at JP Morgan with responsibility for global trade settlements and more recently at Fund Partners.

Julie Rowe has been named business development manager for the UK and Ireland. She joins Platform One from Informed Decisions where she worked with IFA firms providing systems and transition services.

EY

Partner Wendy Martin has extended her role within the Channel Islands to include head of tax. She replaces Peter Willey who recently returned to an EY team in the UK.

Promoted to tax partner in July 2015, Martin has 20 years’ experience providing tax advice on both domestic and international tax matters. Prior to joining EY, she was director of tax policy with the States of Jersey.
