PEOPLE MOVES: Schroders, State Street, Artemis…

By Kirsten Hastings, 7 Jan 16

Several senior appointments were announced this week, with Schroders creating a new role, Artemis appointing a new chief investment officer, and State Street Global Advisors naming a new fund head in the Netherlands.

Several senior appointments were announced this week, with Schroders creating a new role, Artemis appointing a new chief investment officer, and State Street Global Advisors naming a new fund head in the Netherlands.

Schroders

Schroder Real Estate has appointed Makoto Fukui to the newly created role of director of strategic partnerships. Fukui will focus on developing strategic partnerships with major global investors, arranging joint ventures, and executing bespoke investment and asset management initiatives.

Based in London, Fukui will be responsible for formulating client investment strategies, capital raising, managing joint venture investments, and working with the UK and European investment teams on sourcing and disposals.

State Street Global Advisors

State Street Global Advisors’ (SSGA) has appointed Philippe Roset as head of SPDR ETFs for the Netherlands. He joins SSGA from ETF Securities where he served as head of Benelux for three years.

Roset will be responsible for business development and overseeing sales of SPDR ETFs in the Netherlands, where SSGA is one of the biggest foreign fund managers in the pensions market.

Artemis

Peter Saacke has been named Artemis Fund Managers’ new chief investment officer, replacing Ruth Keattch who announced last year that she intended to retire.

In addition to his new responsibilities, Saacke will continue in his role as co-manager of the Artemis European Growth Fund and will remain manager of the Artemis Global Growth and Global Emerging Markets funds.

Source

In addition to his role as chief operating officer, Gary Buxton has been appointed chief financial officer of ETP provider Source. He is also a member of the firm’s management committee.

Buxton will continue with his responsibilities in the Investment Management Group and Capital Markets, which includes overseeing new product execution, trading, risk management, and operations.

Ashburton Investments

Matthew Kemp has been appointed head of UK wholesale, expanding Ashburton’s London-based distribution team.

Kemp’s primary focus will be to distribute funds held on the Ashburton Investment Ucits IV Luxembourg Sicav into the UK; including a range of multi-asset funds and select equity and fixed income funds, in particular India and Africa.

He has over 15 years’ experience in the asset management industry, having most recently been a partner at Smith & Williamson Investment Management and investment director at Standard Life Investments.

Nucleus

Nucleus, the adviser-built wrap, has named Gordon Murray its new asset services director, where he will be responsible for managing all internal and outsourced investment operations.

Murray joins Nucleus from FNZ, where he spent three years as head of investment operations; having spent the previous six years at Standard Life where he fulfilled various senior roles, including head of the asset administration business centre and head of operations.
