Best performing sectors for UK funds in 2017

The results are in – here are the 10 strongest-performing sectors on a total return basis according to the UK’s Investment Association and data from FE Analytics.
8. Japanese Smaller Companies
The IA’s Japanese Smaller Companies category began 2017 strong, returning 6.56%.
“Japanese smaller companies continued to have a good first quarter,” Architas investment director Adrian Lowcock reflected.
“Although the sector lagged most equity markets it still delivered strong single digit growth. Some of this was down to currency – the Yen has gained around 4% against the pound in 2017.”
