The worst-performing funds of Q2
By Adam Lewis, 5 Jul 18
While funds invested in oil and gas companies dominated the lists of the best-performing funds in the second quarter, those investing in Latin America found themselves at the bottom of the table.
Coming in at number five in the list of worst-performing funds in the three months to the end of June is the $1.1bn (£832m, €944m) Fidelity Latin America Fund, which fell 17.14% in sterling terms.
Over the same period; the fund’s benchmark, the MSCI Emerging Markets Latin America Index, fell 12.61%, also in sterling terms.
Manager Angel Ortiz does have the freedom to invest outside the fund’s principal geographies, market sectors, industries or asset classes, but at least 70% of the portfolio needs to invested in the shares of Latin American companies.
