On the other hand, under the HKMA code of conduct, it is an offence for staff to solicit or accept any “advantages not in accordance with the general or special permission”.
The ‘restricted advantages’ are gifts (either physical or monetary), discounts, loans and air, sea and overland passages.
These types of presents are restricted as they need to be assessed according to the relationship with the giver, the occasion and the value of the gift before they can be accepted.
