Top of the pile is Ruffer’s £2.2bn Total Return International Fund, one of the most highly rated by fund buyers on Sharing Alpha’s database. The actively-managed fund describes its investment aim as achieving “positive returns with low volatility” with an overarching belief in capital preservation. In the year to 30 June it grew 8.4% and holds a large 17% exposure to Japanese equities. Index-linked gilts alos feature heavily and it holds 13% in cash.
